The whole trials of Mr. Robert Powell, For Forging a Receipt with Intent to defraud the Honourable East India Company; and of Edward Burch and Matthew Martin, For Forging a Paper-Writing, purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Sir Andrew Chadwick; Who were tried at the Sessions House in the Old Bailey, In the Mayoralty of Brass Crosby, Esq; and all capitally convicted: But their respective Cases being referred to the Twelve Judges on a Point of Law, they, after having had the Matter argued before them by Council, determined in favour of the Prosecutors; and the Prisoners received Sentence of Death on Wednesday the 11th of December, 1771.
